          Mary McDonald: Interiors is the first book on the work of the award-winning internationally published Los Angeles-based designer.

          This week on “Million Dollar Decorators,” McDonald worked with fashion designer Jill Roberts to turn a small unused room into her office. McDonald had already decorated the rest of her house in a style she describes as “L.A.

          English” – what a Brit’s house would look like if they moved to California and decided they liked some kicky modern touches. She had a vision in mind for what this room should look like: a bold, contemporary pattern would make the room seem like it wasn’t quite a small space.

          Roberts was thinking more natural colors and walls that looked “like a sunset.”

          “Jill is like a kid in a candy store with too many colors and too many wants,” McDonald said.

          “She needs to pick just one lollipop.”
